Mighty Networks Orientation

Our weekly Community Calls provide peer support, discussion forums and guest workshops for retreat center leaders and allied organizations. Keep checking back for more of these videos here in our blog.

Through winter and spring of 2020 we hosted several conversations about creating a digital resource library for the Retreat Center Collaboration. We imagined a “living library” where retreat centers could collect ideas, connect with centers on shared interests and projects, document the legacies of centers in transition, and develop new lines of thinking.

As COVID swept in, RCC shelved that conversation. But over the summer, we’ve been exploring social media platforms to see what might support the Collaboration’s current needs. We’ve chosen to utilize Mighty Networks, and are excited about the opportunities ahead.

On this call we took a short tour through RCC’s Mighty Network, exploring the layout and the Chat function, as well as Topics, Cohorts, and Courses.

We also reviewed the RCC’s new 5-minute video, “Building Community During a Pandemic,” which we plan to launch next week.

The call closed with an intimate discussion of the important role the Collaboration has played for us as participants. Our new 5-minute video tells a complicated story of retreat centers during COVID — some are closed, some are open, and many are struggling right now. We can invite others into this story with us. The video is a great tool to broaden our community, and we plan to use it to collectively connect with our staff members, boards, funders, volunteers, and surrounding communities.

The story of retreat centers is just beginning.

Together we’re writing the next chapter.
