Topic: Spiritual Bypass and Other Blocks to Retreat Center Equity

Spiritual bypassing is defined as a tendency to use spiritual ideas and practices to sidestep or avoid facing unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds, and unfinished developmental tasks. These actions can have a direct impact on retreat centers ability to have sacred relationships with groups of people who have historically not patronized these spaces. If we are to live into the value of universal flourishing we must, introspectively evaluate the ways we’ve blocked our own healing and capacity for transformation.
